You are listening to Wicked Psychotherapists, a podcast where two psychotherapists show you that taking care of and learning about mental health doesn't have to be wicked hat.
Erin:Hey guys, it's Tanya. Hi, it's Erin, and welcome to Wicked Psychotherapist.
Tanya:Yeah, so we have a really fun one today. Continuing on the Adam Sandler train. we are going to be talking about a very recent release, happy Gilmore two that is currently trending on Netflix From the time we're recording this. it was a really fun one to watch. I really liked it. I really enjoyed it.
Erin:Yeah,
Tanya:I did too. I thought it was fun. I found myself laughing out loud way more than I expected, you know? I loved Happy Gilmore, but 30 years later with a continuation, you kind of think. what's gonna happen with this one? But it delivered I think. Yeah. that was really good. this will be a spoiler alert because this is a fairly new one. So if you don't wanna know about this, obviously you probably, if you see Happy Gilmore two in the title, you probably wouldn't watch it knowing that we're gonna,
Erin:we're gonna talk, we're gonna dissect it or just please pause this. If you haven't seen Happy Gilmore too. Watch it, then come back.
Tanya:Yeah, for sure. And it's worth it. It's definitely worth it to watch So, Yeah, so it was, it was about 30 years later, 1996 to now 29 years. but a lot has changed in happy Gilmore's life. he has four boys and a daughter. He married, his wife. We find out very soon into, you know, he kind of conquered the golf world. He won all these. you know, whatever they're called championships. I don't know. He has lots of yellow jackets. He's,
Erin:he's lots of jacket's yellow, lots of yellow jackets. He's happy in grandma's old house
Tanya:They like add on additions and things like that. It's like a piece house
Erin:at first I was like, this is a mansion. but then you realize it's grandma's house, which, but it's, yeah, he's doing well. So it, it does, it starts really, it starts really happy and you're just like, oh, he's doing really good.
Tanya:Yeah, it's a nice little, jaunt down, oh, this is the continuation of Happy's life and it's really promising. And then we get to a scene at some golf tournament, he tees off and unfortunately hits his wife, hard enough to. Kill her. Kill her. Yeah. And so she's pretty early on. She dies, because of a stray, ball to the head or whatever. You know, he teed off and She was in the direct path for some reason.
Erin:Yeah, I was wondering like, why would she be sitting, you know, like standing right at the. No one else was there.
Tanya:it was very weird, especially knowing the power of his hits too. Like the way he hits the ball and how hard it's, yeah. So like 400 miles
Erin:per hour
Tanya:Yeah. It was kind of crazy. I really wasn't expecting that. I was like, wait a minute. This seemed like, I can't remember the name of his wife. just know Julie Baldwin, the actress, but Virginia. Virginia. Virginia. Yeah. but. Yeah, I just thought she would be in a whole movie. But that kind of played into the rest of the plot where we see that he feels so guilty about what happens. He's grief stricken, and starts to, drink and to cope with, with this, you know, he's got the, kind of no, no other way of coping because he's just so hurt that he, he feels so guilty about it. doesn't wanna go near golf again. So he slowly descends into a spiral. he's just a single father of five kids, then the bills start to lapse because I guess Virginia had always taken care of that. He's not playing golf as much, so there's no money coming in. they lose grandma's house. They, you know, he, he says he just like, he lost everything. And that's so sad because it's like, oh my gosh, that's what the whole like, happy Gilmore, was trying to save the house and then he just loses it like within like 10 minutes of, of the movie or hear about it.
Erin:I did think at first like that was really sad. Yeah, it was sad. And I was thinking, is he going to try to win grandma's house again? But then it's like, no. They end up in this rundown house or apartment. That looks like either Worcester or Fall River or something.
Tanya:Yeah, it, it's definitely like a Worcester esque house, but I guess it was filmed in New Jersey, which I guess there's some crossover there. Yes. But, it looks like it. Yeah. so he and his daughter, the youngest one, she's a. Ballerina, you know, um, kind of like she's taking classes through the Boys and Girls Club, but apparently she's so good that her teacher submits her video to some prestigious school. Which is gonna cost like$75,000 a year. he doesn't have the money. He doesn't wanna see her dreams broken from that. Right. And so that's kind of the motivation as well as. Losing his grandma's house. But I think the first primary motivation is really his kids. Right. He's really focused on them. I guess the boys kind of are living out in their own, they're like old enough to kind of live in a house on their own sort of thing.
Erin:I think they said they're all renting an apartment together. Some of the boys look really young, but maybe they just look young. some of them look like they'd be the same age as Vienna, but they're probably. Older able to somewhat take care of themselves I would not wanna see what their apartment looked like.
Tanya:Yeah, because they're a rowdy bunch. they're pretty hilarious though. they're kind of like happy when he was younger, but there's four of'em. they're really rowdy and suggestive idiots. Yeah, let's just say that. with their humor. But it honestly made me laugh quite a bit. Um, yeah, it's funny. And the daughter, Vienna is kind of a little more refined, but she still joins in on some of the family rout us. But yeah, so he starts to see this recognition of oh, there's something outside of this grief. Like my daughter, I don't want her to suffer for this and not live her dreams. so that kind of snaps him out of saying maybe I need to get some help. Also, his daughter is kind of, kind of care, takes him and is like, you know, you can't be doing this. he also. Has a golf cart incident where He's trying to think of restarting golf because he hasn't played at this point in like 10 years. and he, ends up crashing the, like really crashing the golf cart Yeah. Explodes, you know, to the point where it made the news. Yeah. And so it's very apparent he's got a drinking problem. Mm-hmm. And so, yeah, he is, thinking, okay, I gotta get back to golf. his wife Virginia comes to him in a dream and is like, you're not meant to be thinking about hockey. you gotta think back to golf, you know, and he's like, okay, I gotta think of this. Mm-hmm. he kind of starts to practice again. He starts at the beginner leagues. he kind of stinks. He needs to, you know, he's kind of being shown up by these, three young kids.
Erin:Yeah. what did his housemate or whatever garage mate John Daly is like, you can't, you know, like just start, you can't go do any worse than just start him from the bottom. you're already at the bottom.
Tanya:So just go to a place and practice with
Erin:Practice with three kids. And see what happens.
Tanya:Yeah. And he kind of has to start over again, in his fifties now. He was probably in his late twenties back when, you know, the original Happy Gilmore was, was film or that was like what his character was supposed to be. Yeah.'cause he's 50, so he's competing with all these young kids. and also not having practiced and with all the grief, when he's playing. it's a hard road, but even his daughter is like, no, you can, you'll, start to get better and then a little better and you'll be the best again. You know, he has a lot of encouragement from His friends and everything, and I think that also we kind of see that setup.
Erin:Yeah. I was gonna say, I think that kind of spearheads him to think like, well, maybe I need to get sober. Well, he kind of was forced to. Start attending an type of type. I say type of, because another character that we saw before, Hal, who, poor grandma, had to have Hal as her nurse. And now how, how is running? I don't know what, how, what Judge Hal talked to, but he's able to run this whole, I think it's his brother.
Tanya:or family member.
Erin:So his brother's a judge and helped him create this racket of like, you could do whatever you want. For these people. they can wash your car, they can paint your house, they could do whatever, read your book that you wrote. And so Adam, um, happy is stuck with Hal and he's the person that's kind of ensuring that he's getting staying sober and going to the meetings and stuff. So it's like, oh boy.
Tanya:Yeah, he is running basically like indentured servitude, but he's putting it in the frame of, oh, this will help you to get sober. And, yeah. and here's my book. And any other book that you have like is, happy, had another book by, By Chubbs, you know, that he was reading like the art of golf And he throws it against the wall. He is so mad. But yeah, if you say or do something outta line, he's like, you're gonna wash my car this weekend. Yeah. that's the way to him. that's the way to feeling better, to getting through this, you know, sobriety. But really it's just his way of getting people to. be his servants. he's still awful. He's still an abusive person as he was with grandma, unfortunately. Yeah. Back in the day. Um, but yeah, it's just, it's a real shoddy group. he calls it Hal's group, like healing and something, I don't remember what it stood for. Yeah. Acronym, but
Erin:it's not aa, um, that's what he said.
Tanya:it's kind of like he's trying to base it off that framework, but it's more just for his own needs. And everybody else just kind of falls in line with it. So he does that and Is kind of, trying to get some help. But really it's the motivation of like his family and, you know, his sons are like, you know, we, we believe in you and his friends, John Daly, they're all very supportive of him. Yeah. I think that's probably what gets'em through Not hell's group, I would say. Yeah. And it's,
Erin:and even as goofy and irresponsible as the sons seem, they love their dad so much and all five of them are just so supportive. And John Dailey. Too. Like he's just everywhere. You know, it's funny how Adam's always like, okay, and you guys take care of John, make sure he's doing, you know, like whatever. Sure. He eats three
Tanya:times a day, gets a walk or something as a pet. And he was also in the original one too, right? like John Daly was in the original
Erin:I don't know. He may have been, I don't remember. It's funny though, I don't know anything about golf, but looking at pictures of John. It's like this is who he real, like who he's portrayed in. Abby Gilmer is probably who he really is. Like he's probably a crazy hilarious, a crazy funny person. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, he was in the original, I just did a quick search and he was in the first one too. Oh, okay. Yeah, I think he kind of lets him live. Oh, he's happy Gilmore's brother. it says John Dailey is playing. Happy Gilmore's brother in Happy Gilmer too, but I don't think he is. I think he just acts like a brother. Oh, okay. Because he calls him John Daley.
Tanya:uncle John. Uncle John Daley. They're always like Uncle John Daley. Yeah. He's like, he's an entity. He is like this version of himself. Yeah. That's hilarious. Yeah. I thought that was really funny. And he is just kind of like, you know, he's this really supportive person, even though he's kind of. living off of happy, he provides happy, a lot of support, emotional support and everything. Yeah. he's got a lot of good people surrounding him. I think that's what helps him through that. But then he gets approached by the guy who I, honestly, The first time I saw him, I thought that was carrot top. it is not. I looked it up and I was like, is that carrot top? after having a lot of surgery or something, who was that? Who are you thinking? Was Carrot's the Maxi guy? Oh yeah. I was trying to figure out who that guy was. I couldn't, he's actually been in a couple other things. I don't really recognize him, but I looked him up and I was like, oh, okay. He's been in a couple, he's been around
Erin:before.
Tanya:Yeah. he's pretty like, but I just didn't know him, it was probably just the red hair that he had first, you know, and I just was, you know, I did think he did look a little too young to be him, but he definitely is. Yeah. And he approaches happy in a grocery store and he's like, Hey, I'm starting this new golf league. it's a whole new thing. It's fun and, you know, kind of has its own rules. And he is like, you, you're like the, the, the, you know, spokes spokesperson for this. you're in the DNA of my project because you win against all the rules and everything, so you gotta be a part of this. And Happy's just not interested at all? No, he's just like, no, that sounds stupid. That sounds awful. Like, no thanks. Yeah. I don't play golf anymore, but like, I certainly don't wanna play it like that, you know? Yeah. He's just like not into it. Yeah. he's not really quite about going back to golf at that point yet, but he's like, if I am gonna go back, it's not gonna be that way.
Erin:yeah. Well, I don't know if that's when he starts thinking too, it's like, well, that's not really what golf is because that's, you know, Virginia, I know he ends up talking it later, but, real golf, was so important to his wife. I think that also is kind of like, well now I need to get, get sober and start playing, learning how to play golf again to beat this guy, beat this idiot.
Tanya:Yeah. that kind of becomes, another motivation. So he is got all these kind of motivations to mm-hmm. Get through his grief and then get through, the drinking and everything. This guy starts to, form this league called the Maxi League or something it reminds me of do you remember the X Games Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like, where it's really hyped up, it's more about the excitement of it as opposed to the sport tradition or the rules or the sport. Yeah. Like it's kind of just, yeah. And it gave me that same ugh, feeling that I got from ex sports. I just don't really. Like this.
Erin:Well it's all like, you see all the, well that's probably, and also like the Red Bull eggs, like there's all like, people drinking energy drinks and doing this, you know, like, it's like, all hyped up. Mm-hmm.
Tanya:So,
Erin:but yeah, that's, yeah. Yeah. It's, I was gonna say that's what, when you, when it made me laugh when all of a sudden, You know, like figuring out who's gonna play and stuff. And then, Hailey, Joe Osmond is like one of the golfers, like on, happiest team. And you just, then you just start to see him morph into like this, like almost like a villain. And it's so funny to see him in this character, to see him as the bad person.
Tanya:it just,
Erin:you know,'cause we have done, you know, we had, we had him in a, we talked about, the sixth sense when he was just a little boy. Mm-hmm.
Tanya:Yeah. he was a sweet, innocent
Erin:little boy. Yeah. It's fun seeing him. it's fun seeing him like this.
Tanya:Yeah, that was a nice surprise. And I had a feeling when he first appeared, I was like, I think he's gonna be a double agent. I think he's gonna end up being for the maximum, like when he was wearing,
Erin:shorts and he didn't care that he was wearing shorts and you can't wear shorts.
Tanya:And he's kind of flouting the rules and like just his demeanor and, confidence. he does admit, he's not, playing for, the, the traditional golf team. I'm, I'm gonna be playing in the, the Maxi League or whatever, because, they end up setting a, a competition, the Maxi League and the, the regular vanilla golfers as they refer to him as, yeah. You know, and saying like, oh, well, We'll show'em who's the best or whatever, because they're trying to kind of form this new league to Take over and, Maybe eliminate that league. but yeah, so they decide, okay, whoever does well in this weekend I can't remember what it's called, but like the gold jacket league or whatever, you know, just kinda like the regular traditional league. I think it's like they had the yellow jacket. Whoever I top five will compete. Yeah. Yeah. The yellow, yeah. Yellow jacket tournament winners or
Erin:You can tell we love
Tanya:golf. Yeah. Yeah. I did not, like, I knew very few things from that, and it was only from, yeah. I don't know. Just, I happen to know very few, very few things.
Erin:Yeah. Me too. I like mini golf. I don't really. Understand. I've never wa, I mean I've watched golf. If it's on for a second, you know, while I'm changing a channel and then I quickly change it.
Tanya:Yeah, me too. I don't think I've ever really PGA golf tour winners or something,
Erin:know
Tanya:what it's
Erin:called.
Tanya:Yeah. Professional golf masters or it a master, whatever. Is it a master? Whatever it is. I dunno, you the masters maybe. Yeah, you guys get us. You know, maybe it's not even like something real, maybe in the movie, it's something fictionalized. I don't even know. But yeah. And I really
Erin:doubt they all sit. I mean, do you think they all sit having lunch together for special occasions while wearing their yellow jackets? Do you think that's like a. Maybe they do. I don't know.
Tanya:I don't know golf culture, but maybe,
Erin:and I, I love that. That's, that's good question. That real, I real love that he had real golfers in it I don't know, golf. But it seemed like everyone in that room was like a real golfer. Yeah.
Tanya:Yeah. I think they were somebody famous. You just kind of felt like they were golfers. Like I know Jack Nicholas was in it'cause when he asked for a, a lemonade, a half lemonade, half ice team, he's like, Arnold Palmer. And he's like, no, Jack Nicholas. And so they play, for the weekend. the top five will play against the league in the Maxi League. this Maxi League is founded by the guy who approached, Happy before. he's kind of recruited all these people, into it by now. And he's just kind of formulating this golf league that's like no rules, no holds bar, kind of like maximum extreme settings. Like you could be on ice for one hole and then be in, I don't know, climbing a tree for another one Just really bizarre, golf settings, I guess. so yeah, happy ends up being the top five. he's sixth, but he ends up being the top five because Billy Jenkins, which is Hailey Joel Osmond's character, ends up, you know, saying, oh, I'm actually in the Maxi League and I'm gonna play for them. Kind of Switching sides basically. And so then Happy gets in. Yeah. Happy gets in. Yeah. and so then it's kind of like down to that, right? It's like, who wins? Like the traditional, good guys and bad guys, and Happy also needs money for, His daughter and for all the debt he's in yeah. So that's kind of the final, squaring off I guess. and I think, during this whole time, the guy who heads the Maxi Golf League, he, um, he's like approaches. You know, he really, really wants happy to play.'cause he is like, you're in the DNA of this. You're the, you're the, you know, the reason why I founded this and Happy keeps saying, no, that's not me. Virginia would want it to be this way. He wants it to stay this way. at first I was kind of like, oh, why would he not wanna be a part of that? But then when you see what it actually is, it doesn't abide by any set rules and it's, it's just ridiculous, weird. And it's just for like entertainment value. Mm-hmm. And apparently the guy can, like, has apps on or he can like, change up the, the whole, you know, like the, the kind of the, you know, whatever. Hole you're at or whatever, like you can kind of change the terrain and it's like, what are the rules here? Then they're just kind of non-existent.
Erin:I don't know. Well, it's trying to be set so that his people can win, you know? So
Tanya:it's rigged.
Erin:It's interesting that. at the beginning, when we first saw Happy Gilmore, he was like, golf is so stupid. And now he is protecting it and wants it to, you know? Okay. He actually came with the idea of like, why don't we go against them and whoever wins, that's the type of golf that stays, because he wanted to honor Virginia so he is dealing with his grief and working on his grief with this. we see a little transition with him. he is now not drinking, he is, working on his grief, realizing he needs to do this to help his kids and help his friends with the golf community.
Tanya:Yeah. you see a change in him because he wasn't very. he kind, he grows to, to have a respect for it and a love for it because it means something. It's meaningful he wants to, have something like that, as a memory To Honor everyone he meets and his late wife. Yeah. Um, and I, and I do love, yeah. So it, it's that.
Erin:Oh, I was gonna say, I do love that that shooter, MC Gavin is back and I I think it's great when they Have him in the mental institution and then when, happy and shooter, see each other again at the graveyard where everybody is buried in the same graveyard. I love the whole transition where Shooter and happy just, you know, they're bonding and they're, it's, you know, like they had so much hatred for each other and it's very healing. for both of them.
Tanya:yeah. Right in front of Bob Barker's grave. And then he, Punches him. Price is right. But, it really is. It's kind of like they team up to protect this, Tradition of golf because they both kind of can agree on that. And they seem to have a respect for each other in that. the whole, you know, adversarial nature of the relationship. And the first one is, is very much, you know, kind of dissolves, In this one. that was nice to see. obviously unrealistic the way a lot of things are in these movies, but, still nice. but yeah, it definitely, was, just really funny and we're seeing all these cast of characters along the way. there's such good surprises for me. My, honestly, my favorite one was, the guy who is always heckling him the heckler or whatever, and it is played by Eminem. That was my absolute favorite to see. That was the best.
Erin:It's the heckler's son and, I love how ridiculous it is that. He dresses exactly like his dad and has the same haircut and it's Eminem. So silly Yeah. It, it's, I loved that. That was great. Adam is so smart. the way his mind works is just, he's so funny. He's so clever. And, we talked, we talked earlier too, and I really like how he did like an honor for Cameron Boyce too. Just like, you know, like it's a really quick in the, you know, like what the golf, like when he is going to, You know, like when he is gonna golf with the three or four people at like, just like this, you know, local place at the beginner watching beginners. Yeah. They're watching a Disney show. probably like Jesse or something like that, that Cameron was on. It's just nice. It's like Adam's, you know, he, he's talked before about how much he really, loved him and how much the relationship meant, getting to know him in the grownup movies and everything. So I thought that was really nice.
Tanya:Yeah. That was a, really nice, tribute to him and he does that quite often. And with, you know, people that he is, he's lost or, or just in including his friends as he did in this one, in Yeah. Most of his movies and his family members, his daughters, his, his wife, his mom, they're all in it. And yeah, he does that frequently. Very nice.
Erin:And you've mentioned he included Chris Farley's little brother. Mm-hmm.
Tanya:Yeah, he was in there. He is part of Hell's Gang. there's so many little surprises in there You have to watch it. if you don't know anything about it, it's,
Erin:yeah.
Tanya:It's really nice.
Erin:Yeah, you definitely have to see. if you have not seen Happy Gilmore in a while, you should watch it just because you're gonna get all the inside jokes and it's so funny. they both are really good.
Tanya:Yeah.'cause I, I hadn't watched it, like I didn't watch it right before, so I did forget some of the things, but I kind of surmised from the way they were talking about it. I was like, oh yeah, I think I remember that from the first one. there was also like a couple, appearances from bad Bunny the his caddy who was pretty hilarious, who kind of seemed, really innocent, but also was kind of, yeah. Yeah, I didn't realize that he was, I thought he was really funny. I didn't realize it at first either. And I don't really know his music or whatever. I honestly don't think I really knew what he looked like, I know of him and I was like, oh my God. He was really funny. he was a good addition to that. he just fit the part. it was really nice. He just kind of fit in there. but he's like the ever loyal. Caddy, he doesn't know anything about golf. He's like, what's the green? he doesn't even know what the green is. and also Post Malone was one of the commentators they brought in. He was just in for a little bit and was like, oh, that sucks. he didn't really add much to the commentating, which is, probably about Right. that's really not what he does. But, yeah, funny, I just, there there's so many good, good surprises from celebrities, like mm-hmm. you know, his old gang, his friends and family members. despite all that, it could have been, I think, kind of. Cheesy, but I think he thought about this plot, and it was actually executed really well. It was, funny. Right. it all comes down to the final competition between, um, uh, you know, Adam, um, Adam, um, happy Gilmore and Billy Jenkins we've learned that the players in the Maxi League, have this weird advantage where they're required to get this hip ligament snip, which is absolutely frightening. When they said that, I was like, ugh. which increases their drive, their ability To drive law twist. Like they can kind of twist around. So grossed. Yeah. Which is really weird and kind of cheating Super cheating. It's like a spring. But yeah, so it comes down to that. And of course, the quote unquote good guys win they had bet right before with Manatee, he was like, if I win this, You're gonna pay for my daughter's schooling and buy my grandma's house back and buy Oscar a restaurant and I'm gonna get your, your specter, your, your electric Rolls Royce or whatever. Oh yeah. and he is like, all right. And he is like, but if not you, you come and join us or whatever on this league. So of course there's a lot riding on that So he really has to defend. all these traditions and kind of, deal with his grief with his, his wife and take on kind of this responsibility of saying, I need to be a parent again to my kids. And it really is the hilariousness and all the surprises are just so great. I would watch it again, definitely. I think I wanna watch it again. just to catch everything.
Erin:I
Tanya:feel like I
Erin:I feel like I missed, some parts of it.
Tanya:Yeah, me too. cause it's so loaded with surprises and it's really, good, especially if you're a fan of the first one or just Adam's style of movies. Which you probably are, if you're listening to this. Overall, I loved it. I thought it was great. I thought it was definitely worth the wait you know, almost 30 years
Erin:he has, he has a loyal falling. If we're, we'll wait for 30 years, it's, yeah, it's, yeah. Pretty funny.
Tanya:Mm-hmm.
Erin:But I would say that it's definitely, a good one. I liked it.
Tanya:Yeah, definitely was. Anything else that we're kind of there. There was just so much, it was hard to,
Erin:yeah, I mean, I really like that because I think guess in both Happy Gilmores, he, he does, you know, he does work through stuff like,'cause both of them, he was working through grief, which is kind of interesting because the first one he's working on his dad died from a hockey. Oh my gosh. His dad died from a hockey. Oh my God. He killed both his dad and his wife. I just realized that.
Tanya:Yeah,
Erin:because he killed his dad with a hockey stick or the puck. And then he killed his wife with, his ball. Oh my gosh. That's so sad for him. That, but he end ups traumatic. Yeah. So then he ends up working on his grief and, it is quite the journey I think It's pretty great that he is able to do it twice,
Tanya:And through golf both times. he has this respect for golf, and also wants to defend its honor in this one, so. Yeah. Yeah. And just learning, what happens to Happy is, Really interesting, just as a continuation for where he is at now we see him as a grownup, you know, he's not as like silly and goofy and like losing his temper as much, but he, he definitely, you know, he kind of, I think, has grown up and, and maybe, being a father of five kids and being married for a while will probably do that to you. yeah. Yeah. And then having to you on his own. Yeah. You know, he had to do it on his own for 10 years. And like having to really kind of, I know he used drinking to cope, but he was really trying to figure that out again, Like, how do I do this? but I do, remember the original caddy that he had that he kind of choked out, And then he Came back and he was one of the players he was competing against and yeah. Um. He was kind of like, never forgot it and got really, like, was still like, he was like, oh, I still don't remember that. And that was a really funny addition. And then he ends up choking out his own caddy, that was funny. It was just all good stuff. Good replay. Good memories. Good continuation. Good people. Good casting. Just all around good stuff.
Erin:Yeah.
Tanya:And characters that couldn't be there, or like maybe it would be strange or maybe they had passed, like in real life, they kind of continued with sons or family members or, that type of thing.
Erin:Yeah. And I like how, at first I thought, I was like, oh, this is gonna be cheesy. Having the going back and forth with the memories. But it actually worked really well. I thought it was good and I was happy to see, Steve Buscemi and, and Rob Snyder really quick, you know, for, but, but yeah, it was really good. I recommend watching it if you have listened through this whole thing. If not, we hope you did enjoy it either way.
Tanya:Yeah, it is really good. it's great that it's on Netflix too right now. So, I think it's time for our challenge question. okay, I wanna preface this because I was thinking about this I just watched it last night, so it's only been a night. if you had to choose between the two leagues to play in. The Maxi League or the traditional PGA league. Which would you choose, however, let me preface it with a couple of things. The Maxi League, you wouldn't have to do the whole snipping of your whatever.
Erin:that was exactly going in my head. Okay.
Tanya:I was like, she's not gonna, and like, who would, right. I guess that's crazy. People would, but, um. You know, like without that, and without it, it's like competing with this league, it's just a choice of one. or the other. And the guy is not such a dominating jerk. It's just kind of like a way of playing with those Criteria.
Erin:Well, which one would you choose? I think I'd pick Maxie League. because it seems more fun. What a stupid name,
Tanya:so dumb.
Erin:I think I would choose that just because it looks like you're not just standing in the heat for four hours golf is long, it's 18 holes and that looks like it could take a long time. Maxi League is only seven holes The golf carts look really fast the only thing is just kind of ridiculousness. like who's gonna be able to shoot over trees, you're going into the trees and doing all this craziness. I think I would probably choose that because I've only golfed once in my life and I was so bored I only did a couple holes. I didn't even finish the whole thing. I was just so bored. I like mini golf a lot though, so that's also what I'm thinking. Maybe it would be kind of, maxi would be kind of like mini golf slash fastness and stuff. What about you? What would you choose?
Tanya:I agree. I would rather do the Maxi Golf because I've never done actual golfing, it doesn't sound fun to me. And I think those little challenges and everything without the stipulations that, I set out I think. It would be fun. It'd be kind of exciting actually. Some of them looked pretty cool to kind of challenge yourself to be on ice and try it. That one To slip. Yeah. You know, it was kind of, it was kind of silly. Like some of them might be kind of cool. Like climbing on the rings over a river. some ninja mixed in there. I think that would be fun. that would be kind of fun. So yeah. Survivor warrior, like the. Yeah. Like it's kind of, yeah, it's, it's kind of what it reminded me of. It was just like, all these different scenarios are like kind of different settings and I thought like, oh, that, that actually kind of looks fun, but like you, it just, in the movie, you don't like all this stuff around it and the people in it, In the snipping of the hip, like a men, but yeah. That's scary. Yeah. I would definitely choose that one, because golf is not. it doesn't mean much to me and I don't even know how to do it. No. And I don't care to do it. No.
Erin:my dad plays I don't know how many times a week he does it, but he loves it. Right now, of course in Florida you kind of have to find other sports, or do it super early in the morning, for me, I know people love it. It just doesn't seem very fun to me. It just a lot of concentration. And standing around with people, it just doesn't, it just seems, I don't know, it reminds me of like baseball, just boring. I mean, except for baseball, I think, I wouldn't mind seeing those av, is it Savannah Bananas? Those look, they look fun. Like the guys I know. Yeah,
Tanya:that's kind of like they've got more entertainment built in there.
Erin:I would like that type of baseball. But golf, mini golf is fun. But yeah, just regular golf. Again, unless it was like you're watching Adam Sandler or maybe John Daly. He seems like he might be fun. Yeah. Maybe he would be
Tanya:entertaining. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. let us know what you think. hopefully you get to watch this or you have watched this already, but, uh, we thought this is really interesting.
